What is
SEE Learning?
SEE Learning (Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning), known as Educating the Heart & Mind, was developed by Emory University (Atlanta, USA) for basic education, with the objective of strengthening compassion, self-awareness, and social engagement among children and youth.
Educating the Heart & Mind represents an innovation in the field of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Beyond developing social-emotional skills, the program places special emphasis on training attention, cultivating compassion, strengthening systemic awareness, and expanding ethical engagement.
Why develop social-emotional skills?
Social, emotional, and ethical skills are the processes through which students and adults effectively acquire and apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to:
-
Understand and manage emotions;
-
Feel and show empathy for others;
-
Establish and achieve goals;
-
Develop and maintain healthy relationships;
-
Make responsible decisions.
Through this, we are able to navigate ourselves and our relationships with others in a balanced and ethical manner.
Social, emotional, and ethical learning skills provide important strategies so educators, students, families, and communities can better prepare for the "test of life, not a life of tests".
Why
SEE Learning?
